Mermaid Mocktails Menu
Spec Work
I liked the idea of a mocktail bar as an inclusive option for people who want to go out and get a fancy, dry drink with their friends. I was considering concepts and I enjoy the connection between the word mocktail and the fact that mer-people have tails. I also love how sea shells fit nicely with an Art Deco aesthetic. Overall, mermaids and art deco make for a magical, glamourous night out, which is perfect for a mocktail bar.

Goals
First, I made a mood board of 1920s glitzy aesthetics as well as cocktail bar menus. Instead of black and gold which is what I associate with the 1920s, I substituted black for navy to incorporate the nautical theme. I selected fonts that evoked a combination of Art Deco and oceanic feelings. I learned how to make a simple, repeat pattern for the background, using a line drawing of a shell as the base. I used that shell graphic throughout the menu for decoration as well.
